Professional Writing

My professional writing has appeared in We Need Not Walk Alone: After the Death of a Child (The Compassionate Friends), The California Therapist, SCV-CAMFT News, and online.

I publish Out on a Limb, a monthly blog that focuses on how to maximize the joy in our lives.

If you’d like to read articles that aren’t part of my Out on a Limb blog or Feel Better Resources, check these out:

I served as an expert on grief for Caring.com from 2008 to 2013. My FAQs About Grief provided both practical and emotional suggestions for those who are mourning a difficult loss. Those FAQs will soon be available on this Web site.

Assembling a Life

It took me several years to complete this poignant memoir about my artistic father. Assembling a Life: Claiming the Artist in My Father (and Myself) was published in 2018.

In Her Words

I edited and designed In Her Words by Martha Shurtleff Clark. This short book highlights memoirs written by my mother shortly before she died and is illustrated with numerous family photographs. This creative project helped me assimilate the loss of my quirky and lovable mom.
